WATER YOU THINK ABOUT IN WINTER?

June 23, 2023

Did you know that we tend to drink less water during winter than summer? It's true! We may not feel as thirsty when it's cold outside, but our bodies still need water to function properly. Water helps regulate our body temperature, flush out toxins, lubricate our joints, and keep our skin healthy.

So why do we forget to drink water in winter? Well, there are a few reasons. One is that we may not sweat as much, so we don't notice how much fluid we lose. Another is that we may drink more hot beverages like coffee or tea, which can dehydrate us further. And a third reason is that we may not have easy access to water sources, especially if we're outdoors or wearing layers of clothing.

Hydration Day was Friday June 23, 2023. So, we have written up 5 quick and simple ways to stay hydrated in winter:

1. Drink water before, during, and after your meals. This will help you digest your food and prevent overeating.

2. Carry a reusable water bottle with you wherever you go. You can fill it up at any tap or fountain and sip it throughout the day.

3. Add some flavour to your water with fruits, herbs, or spices. You can try lemon, cucumber, mint, ginger, or cinnamon for a refreshing twist.

4. Eat more fruits and vegetables that have high water content. Some examples are oranges, apples, celery, lettuce, and tomatoes.

5. Limit your intake of alcohol and caffeine. These can make you lose more water than you gain, and also affect your sleep quality.

By following these tips, you can keep your body hydrated and healthy all winter long. Remember, water is essential for life, so don't neglect it!
