Grasses of Life went to India to find out exactly what they were buying - where it came from, how it was made, and whether it truly met their high standards. Known for only offering premium products, castor oil was no exception.

The team spent a week with their supplier in India, exploring every aspect of the production process - and they were genuinely impressed. As a result, Grasses of Life now offers the only Certified Organic Fair Trade Castor Oil in Australia.

Castor oil has a rich history, from ancient Egypt to modern-day India, where it has long been used as a natural medicine. But even with its popularity, it’s important to know where it’s sourced from, as contamination can be a concern.

Knowing the oil was truly organic - and that no hexane extraction was used on site - gave the team total confidence in the integrity of their product. Although pollution can be an issue in parts of India, the Kutch region where this oil is sourced proved to be clean, with clear skies and a healthy environment. Seeing the farms firsthand, meeting the farmers, and walking through the growing fields, it was clear that clean water and high-quality systems were in place. Every step was carefully tracked.
